Let’s be honest, this lockdown is bearable but when it messes with our holiday plans I feel like being annoyed is totally justified. Unfortunately, our 4-week lockdown period clashes with Easter, a time we usually all spend travelling to the bach or catching up with family. So check out some of our top ‘lockdown-friendly’ ideas for celebrating Easter at home! If you’ve been to the supermarket lately, firstly go you (it’s a mission isn’t it?!), and secondly you would have noticed that the shelves seemed to be stocked with Easter chocolates! I’m not sure about you but it this year doesn’t feel like a year of chocolate Easter Eggs! Perhaps that’s just because with everything going on in the world it doesn’t really seem like the right time to celebrate and stuff our mouths with chocolatey goodness. Anyway, we’ve decided this year as a family we’re ditching the chocolate and trying to find new and perhaps even more meaningful ways to still celebrate Easter! My family isn’t particularly religious, but we always look forward to Easter because it is a great occasion with many memorable family traditions. If your family has particular traditions for Easter share them with us in the comment section below! We also love having Easter as an excuse to get the family together, or pop out for a short holiday to really relax! For many people, Easter will be a weekend of camping, heading out to the bach or gathering the family around for a classic Easter egg hunt. But fear not, Live Lively is here to provide you with a little fresh inspiration for a lockdown Easter to remember! 1. Easter Nature Scavenger Hunt - Who says we can’t have a little fun in our own backyard! This is a super fun activity idea which is sure to burn out the kids a little. Simply collate them a list of things to find, or even hide things in the garden for them to scavenge! These could be small toys, easter eggs or just colours/textures in nature! Check out the link here for the PDF printable for this exact scavenger hunt! https://www.amomstake.com/printable-easter-egg-hunt-checklist/ 2. Make your own hot cross buns! Now that we have the time, why not make our own? Hot cross buns are an Easter classic so whip some up on the Saturday and enjoy these as the perfect Easter Sunday breakfast. 3. 100% Naturally Dyed Eggs This is my personal favourite idea, I think these are just so gorgeous. They use fruits and veggies to naturally dye the eggs. I think this would be a super versatile way to use veggie scraps creatively and a great project to involve the kids in too! Check out the blog post here from 'Mama Papa Bubba': https://mamapapabubba.com/2016/03/17/fruit-and-veggie-dyed-eggs/ 4. Toilet Paper Roll Bunny Craft Surely we have to use up those toilet rolls we all seemingly stock piled somehow? What better way than to craft some DIY bunnies! Paint these up and stick them together for an easy afternoon craft. I think hanging these on string in a bunting would be a super cute idea too! 5. Egg Hunt Activity Game Pop an activity in each of these plastic eggs and hide them around the garden instead. Once all the eggs have been found, each family member can take turns opening their eggs and completing the movement! 6. No Sew DIY Sock Bunny This is a super quick and easy DIY which looks insanely cute. This link below contains a video tutorial too which makes it even easier! http://www.homeandgardeningideas.com/no-sew-diy-sock-bunny/ Which Easter idea is your favourite? Let us know what your plans are for this Easter below in the comment section, we’d love to know!
