In a medium sized bowl, combine the Epsom Salt and Essential Oils using a spatula to fully incorporate the oils evenly. For a more mild scent, decrease the amount of oils. Stronger is better for items headed to the linen closet when you need a scent which is going to last. Add laundry scent booster to a container. To use, add 1/8 to 1/4 a cup of Laundry Scent Booster directly to your washing machine tub before you begin the wash cycle. This recipe yields 8-16 loads.
We popped in one of our old Isagenix shake scoops to use, a full one of these is equivalent to 1/4.
You’ll need either 2 squares or one long rectangle folded in half (reduces sewing amount). Line up your squares. Right sides facing each other. Using your machine or hand-sewing sew three sides around, keeping the top open. Ensure this is nice and strong, then flip right side out.
In a bowl, mix your rice and essential oils (approx. 5 drops per bag) increase your amount according to the size and quantity of your bag. Then, carefully spoon your rice mixture (and optional extras) into the sachet bag. You don’t want to fill it all the way to the top or you won’t be able to close it properly. Twist the top and secure with ribbon or twine. Enjoy!
You can top up the scents by opening the sachets and adding a few extra drops of essential oils. A cute little idea is to change your scents according to the change in season. Pine for Christmas anyone? I think yes. You could even add some dried pine needles, ugh I’m so doing this.
Bonus idea! You can easily make these into mini wheat bags which are perfect little hand warmers on a cold morning or larger heating pads for your stomach, neck or shoulders. Rather than securing with ribbon or twine, sew the top shut. You can’t top up the essential oils directly onto the rice, however add a few drops to the outside of the bag and that’ll do the trick too. Microwave for a few minutes with a small glass of water. Heaven.
No-Sew Option! Use fabric glue or hot glue to secure the edges.
