My Sunday: Sarah & Morag Gurnsey

Welcome to yet another brand, spanking new series here on the Live Lively blog. My Sunday (inspired by a section of the Sunday Canvas Magazine you may receive with your Sunday newspaper) is all about a selected person's Sunday routine. We believe that Sunday is usually the day where people fall away from work and finally have the opportunity to have a full say on what their day consists of. Ultimately, we like to align our Sunday as much as we possibly care with the 'Lively Lifestyle'. We're curious about how people spend their Sunday as it's usually a reflection of their most significant personal values and priorities: whether you spend your time socialising with your family, or tackling your meal prep. We're starting off the series easy, by letting you in on ours! However in the future, we'll be studying the Sunday of people we admire, and some of the local people we love who really are the personification of what the Lively Lifestyle is all about.

 Sarah's Sunday:
"Sunday is definitely a day I love to have to reset myself and get on top of things for the week ahead. I like to keep in a good sleep routine by still waking up reasonably early at 7am, it’s a habit I’m attempting to stick with as long as my lazy teenage body will let me! Initially in my mornings, I love to get outside and have a walk - usually with my boyfriend. It’s a great way to just unload from the week and just try to leave the work behind before Sunday commences. Phone’s are banned from this walk, which is honestly such a relief! Once home, it’s shower time. I usually take this opportunity to clean my bathroom also, change the towels and give everything a good wipe down or wash my makeup brushes if required. Family breakfast with french toast is such an essential, gluten free/dairy free of course but it’s a lovely way to spend our weekend mornings as usually during the week we’re all over the place and just grabbing a quick bite!

Afterwards, I continue my GYST by organising myself with the rest of the family for the week, and finalising the week’s meal plan to make sure everyone is covered. Then, it’s off to my room to clean and organise my area’s of the house. Change the sheets, vacuum the bedroom and organise the laundry into loads which will be churned through during the day. I love to wash my car on a Sunday, white car struggles honestly - but it’s just a pet hate having a dirty car! Then I’m tackling the groceries by hitting up either the markets, local produce shops and finally the supermarket.
Once home the meal prep process begins, check out my Meal Planning blog post for more details. By the end of this, I’m leaving the kitchen organised and tidy for the week ahead. The afternoon is usually set aside for my personal organisation time, everything from school work to Lively work. I’m writing to-do lists, setting our my weekly plan, and packing any bags for the week ahead. I love having my Monday completely organised, we all know Monday’s can be rough. So Monday’s planner is completely sorted, outfit out and required bags packed into the car. During this time I also love hitting inbox zero, basically ensuring that all my emails are cleared out or organised into the their categorised folders. I also love completing my Weekly Review and Weekly Plan from my GYST blog post.

The evening ends with some much needed self care, if that’s just doing my nails or soaking in a bath either way I end up in bed (hopefully early) with a book in hand. Sunday done."
Morag's Sunday:
"Sunday is one of the highlights of my week. In true Sunday tradition, it has to start with a little bit of a sleep in. Then a family breakfast of french toast, bacon & maple syrup with cinnamon and of course a decaf coffee with almond milk on the side. Sunday is such a treat day, so Tim and I leisurely read the paper and potter over sudokus. The focus is on making this day a stress free one, before yet another crazy busy week begins. After breakfast, our GYST begins by working out where everyone is for the week and going over our individual & family commitments. My job is to clean the fridge before Sarah returns with this week's shop and our Nadia Food Bag arrives on our door step. The only other chore is to keep the washing churning through - which is pretty effortless. Sunday is the day we commit to a mountain bike, usually tackling the trails at Te Miro Mountain Bike Park unless it’s wet and we switch for something closer to home.

Sunday is all about connecting with the family, ensuring we’re having meals together as a family before we’re all pulled in different directions during the week."
We can't wait to share with your more from the 'My Sunday' series in the future, keep an eye out for some inspiring and talented people sharing their secrets and habits embedded in their perfect Sunday.
